Mark 9:38-41 — And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
When an act of kindness is done, especially in the name of Christ, just because they are not “Christians like you” or your denomination does not make it unholy. Other denominations and other Christians may not get along when it comes to doctrine – but there is one thing that most, if not all, agree on. Benevolence. Benevolence is an extremely Christ-like action.
John 3:16 — For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Don’t let your pride, or your denomination, or anything else get in the way of serving and giving to others with the love of Christ. God’s act of love in the New Testament was a clear: He GAVE His Son. To be Christians, in other words to be Christ-like, is to follow Him and do what He does. We are to give, and we are to give to those in need.
Hebrews 13:16 — Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. (ESV)
