1 Corinthians 13:1-3 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge: and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Without love you are just a sound. Without love you are nothing. Without love, you cannot gain anything. Whatever your ministry here on this earth, it counts for nothing if you have no love. Why serve and feed the poor if you don’t love them? If God is love, how can we fulfill His commandment to reach all nations if we don’t love all nations? Even if we have the faith that God can make the impossible happen to reach others, what is the point if we don’t have love? We could have all the information in the world, we could understand everything; that is pointless if we don’t love.
Here are two statements, the second replacing the word “love” with God’s name, for God is love.
Everything we do, everything we know, everything we teach is all pointless without love.
Everything we do, everything we know, everything we teach is all pointless without God.
