Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Galatians 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
These two verses are just a sample of what the Bible says about your words and actions to each other. If we follow what these verses are saying, we are following the pattern of Jesus. Sometimes in situations all we want to do is lash out at someone. But is that really what we are supposed to do? I have many situations in my life where all I want to do is yell at someone who is putting me down, whether purposefully or not. And in most of those situations I do lose my temper. This is probably one of the hardest struggles in the Christian life: letting yourself be calm, quiet, and peaceful, while someone is hurting you, fighting with you, or acting in ways you don’t like. There are times to let anger show, but only righteous anger. We need to have anger towards the things that are wrong and not towards the person doing those things. Be careful of everything you say, don’t say things without thinking. “take heed that ye be not consumed on of another.”
